Charkhi, sharp maanjha and any glass, metal, chemical or nylon string are strictly prohibited and can lead to legal action.

|---|---|
| Charkhi (spool) | Causes severe injuries during handling and is banned outright |
| Sharp maanjha | Glass- or metal-coated string is extremely dangerous |
| Chemical / glass-coated / nylon dor | Can cause fatal cuts to people, motorcyclists and birds |
| Non-approved materials | Any kite or material outside Schedule-I specifications |
Violating these rules results in legal action under the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Act 2025.
The safety of children is the responsibility of parents and the owner of the premises. Never leave children alone on rooftops. In Lahore, a safety rod or wire on every motorcycle is mandatory β it protects riders from string crossing the road. Riders should also wear a helmet and a scarf or neck guard during the festival days.
If you see someone selling or using prohibited string, report it. You can use the Chief Ministerβs complaint portal (crm.punjab.gov.pk), call the police emergency line 15 in an emergency, or inform the District Administration Lahore. Registered kite flying associations are also tasked with helping authorities identify illegal kite material.
